I try to talk to these guys, try to share my experience, tell them how I have played for so long. When you leave, you want to leave in a good position. Gill, Shreyas, Rahul etc have played so many impressive knocks. The team is in good hands. We are always amazed at what NZ can do with limited numbers. The players they come with a set plan.

It’s been amazing, we wanted to bounce back after a tough Australia tour. Nice game with a bunch of amazing youngsters. They are stepping up and taking India in the right direction. They are looking forward to playing under pressure after playing for so long. To win the title, the whole team has to step up in different games. People have played such impressive knocks and spells, that collective effort has done it for us.

Every fielder knows where the bowler will bowl. There is immense faith in their skills, the best fielding side. Huge shout out to them.

Sad to see a very good friend (Kane Williamson) go, there is only love between us.

India vs New Zealand Live Score: ‘Most of the time, I sat back and enjoyed Rohit’s batting’

It felt amazing. Most of the time, I sat back and enjoyed Rohit’s batting. He told me that no matter what the scoreboard gap was, the aim was to bat till the end. We missed out in 2023, happy to have won eight ODIs.

It’s amazing to see the intensity with which he plays. He keeps asking us to give it our all and backs up. NZ are very consistent and execute the plan properly. We know they give their all. They showed that with consistency tonight.

India vs New Zealand Live Score: ‘Luckily I wasn’t needed to bat’

Luckily I wasn’t needed to bat. KL and Hardik have done brilliantly. I don’t believe in favourite tags but we are doing great. This win is dedicated to our fans. It is easy to say that having four spinners in a team

is easy, but managing four spinners is very difficult. There was a lot of planning and all the credit goes to Rohit bhai. Big party tonight.

India vs New Zealand Live Score: India Champions

India held their nerve to secure an unprecedented third Champions Trophy title by defeating New Zealand by four wickets in the final on Sunday, led by skipper Rohit Sharma with a fine half-century.

After Rohit suffered his 12th consecutive toss loss, India’s spinners produced a masterclass, restricting New Zealand to 251/7 in 50 overs. Kuldeep Yadav (2/40) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/45) were instrumental in applying the brakes on the Kiwi batting lineup.

Chasing 252, India crossed the line with six balls to spare, thanks to the crucial contributions of Rohit (76 off 83 balls) and Shreyas Iyer (48 off 62 balls).

FOR New Zealand, Daryl Mitchell (63 off 101 balls), Michael Bracewell (53* off 40 balls), and Rachin Ravindra (37 off 29 balls) were outstanding performers with the bat.

India faced some tense moments in their chase, especially after being comfortably placed at 183/3 in the 38th over. However, KL Rahul (34* off 33 balls) showed remarkable composure to guide the team home, supported by Hardik Pandya’s quickfire 18.

3 / 3

With the win, India completed a flawless campaign, remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament – a testament to their dominance.

Having previously won the Champions Trophy in 2002 and 2013, India are now the only team to have won the prestigious title thrice.

India vs New Zealand Live Score: ‘Winning an ICC event is always amazing

Winning an ICC event is always amazing. I remember 2017 very vividly, I couldn’t finish that time. I’m very happy to do it here. KL was calm, he took the opportunity at the right time. He has an extraordinary talent, no one can give time like him.

India vs New Zealand Live Score: ‘Hardik and KL were brilliant

That’s how it is with me; sometimes hero, sometimes zero. The wickets were not easy for a new batsman. Hardik and KL were brilliant. Winning a city is a huge thing. It hurts when you don’t win a big tournament even after playing for so long.
